Routing a student from the student record
Go to the Students tab |
Locate the student by typing a portion of the first or last name in the search box. |
Hover over the 3 dots located to the right of the student name and click on the pencil icon to edit the student. |
You can control whether the student is routed using a door to door stop or a nearby group stop using the Transportation Plans sub-tab in the student record. |
Using a door-to-door stop
If you want the student to be routed door-to-door, the transportation plans should indicate the pick-up/drop-off stops to be the students home address and the drop to be the attending school. See the example shown to the right. In this example, the students home address is 204 W walnut St and we have a transportation plan for pick up in the morning and drop off in the afternoon.
If the student doesn’t have a transportation plan, you can click on the “Auto Generate” button which will create a standard door-to-door transportation plan based on the student’s primary address and attending school. |
Click on the Bus Schedules sub-tab in the student record. |
Click on the “Search & Add Bus Schedule” button. |
If there is already a stop for this address on a route or routes, the list of bus options will be provided for both the morning and afternoon.
If the student’s address is not already a stop on a route, click on the checkbox to add the stop to a route and the system will indicate which buses you can add this stop to.
This list will show any potential routes that you could add this stop to. You will want to review the number of students already assigned to the bus as well as the duration increase to add this stop to the route. |
Simply click on the radio buttons to select the bus to assign for the morning and afternoon routes. Click on the Accept button. |
Using the nearest stop
If you want the student to be routed to the nearest stop, you should remove any transportation plans. You can use the Delete icon below each transportation request to remove them. |
Click on the Bus Schedules sub-tab in the student record. |
Click on the “Search & Add Bus Schedule” button. |
The system will locate the nearest stops for routes going to the student’s assigned school based on the student’s primary address |
Notice that the map will show these stops relative to the student’s address on the map. The student address will be the blue dot and the stops nearby will be the orange dots. |
Click on the checkbox next to the desired stop and then click on the Accept button. You will need to do this for both the morning and afternoon stops (bottom panel). |
Using a specific stop
If you want to route the student to a specific stop, you can create a transportation plan and select the specific pick up and drop off stop. Click on the “Add Transportation Plan” button. |
If you want to specifically designate a pickup stop for this student, click on the Select Pick-up Stop area and start typing the address and any existing stops will be listed that match. This can be helpful if you need to route a student to a specific group stop or to a stop not normally used for their school.
In this example, we want to force the student to be picked up at 116 E Walnut St.
For the School, you can type “Attending School” and it will automatically know which school the student is assigned to. |
This shows an example of selecting a specific stop address (rather than the student’s home address). |
Click on the Bus Schedules sub-tab in the student record. |
Click on the “Search & Add Bus Schedule” button. |
Once routed, regardless of the method used, the bus assignments will show in the calendar as well as in the list below the calendar. |
