February 2021 Enhancement Recap
Option to show or not show stop sequence numbers and stop names on the map
Previously by default, we show the stop name and sequence number on the routes in the map. You now have the option to see big sequence numbers on the map.
In the Routes tab, go to Operations and uncheck the Show Stop Name to see the big sequence numbers on the map. You can now show both sequence numbers or show just the sequence numbers or just the stop names. |
Add notes on route trips that will display on an exported route sheet
Trip Notes can be added to a route trip. This is done from the properties of the trip (the 3 dots on the trip). On the General tab at the bottom is a Notes section. Adding notes here will print |
When the route is exported, the note will automatically appear just under the trip name. |
Real-time Notifications can now be sent to JUST the driver or school admin
In the past, when you selected to send an email or text, the only option that you had to send to the driver or school admin was when you also sent to the parent(s) selected. You can now send JUST to the driver and/or school admin. To do this, click on the Real-Time Notifications icon or button, select Send Email, and then uncheck “send to guardian” and then select the driver and/or school. |
Search and Add Bus Schedule – now ordered by stop distance and show stop distance in the list
School Code added to Student Contact List
The School Code has been added to the list of fields that can be exported on the Student Contact List (Student Tab, Operations, Reports, Student Contact List). |
New Transport Program Feature
The transport program feature allows users to specify different transport programs for students and trips. In this way, our system will assign students to corresponding trips in the same transport program. For example, a student in the MINI VAN program can only be assigned to a trip that is marked as MINI VAN program. This feature has to be enabled on your portal to use – see the instructions below.
| |
You can access the feature from the setting page – general menu – transport programs.
To enable this feature: Click the ‘USE PROGRAM SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS’. Users can create programs as they needed. |
Use the + to create new transport programs. Enter a name and optional code. Click Save. |
To specify a student’s transport program: Open the student record – General tab – Select a transport program. |
To specify a trip’s transport program: Open a route record – open a trip’s property panel – select a transport program |
After the transport program is enabled, all auto-assignment relative functions will obey the program to generate schedules.
Users still can add any student to a trip in different transport program using "Manually Add Schedules" function on the student detail page and the "+1" icon on the TripStop Details panel.
New Rider type of Virtual added to student record
You now have the option of selecting “Virtual” under the rider option in a student record. Remember that these can be set in batch or can be uploaded from a spreadsheet of students (the support team will help with this if needed). |
New Ridership Filters and Views
If you are using the Travel Tracker SafeDriver360 tablet app, you can now view ridership using new filters under the students tab.
Ridership tracked - students scanned cards/drivers manually checked the students on the bus app on a particular date; Ridership not tracked - students did not scan cards and drivers did not manually check the students on the bus app; Student on wrong bus/stop - student got on an unplanned bus and students got on the right bus but at a wrong stop/not his or her planned stop.
When you select one of the filters you will be asked to enter a date range and optionally a vehicle. Click on Search. |
This will filter the student list based on the selection. Note that the Students on wrong bus/stop can be very useful! |
You can also now see ridership by Vehicle. Click on the Vehicle tab, edit a vehicle and open the Ridership History tab. You will see indicators on the dates for the number of students where ridership was tracked. Click on a date on the calendar to view details |
Ridership can also be exported using the Student Contact List Report (Students Tab, Operations, Reports, Student Contact List). Before running the report, filter to the list of students that you would want on the report (i.e. by school, grade, vehicle etc).
Select the fields that you want on the report (we would suggest limiting the fields when selecting the ridership info).
Select the Ridership field. When you select Ridership, new areas will appear to select a date range and other information on ridership.
Click Generate CSV. |
New option to filter students by distance to school
New filters are now available to filter students based on the distance to school. |
Indicate the distance and click Search. |
Setting up the system to indicate SPED trips (useful for Find My Bus, student assignments)
There is a new feature to mark route trips as SPED. This will allow you to mark trips that you DO NOT want to show on the Find My Bus feature.
SPED trip designation. The SPED trip designation will not appear in trip properties until the user has checked the Enable Sped Trips box in Settings under the General tab. After checking Enable SPED trips, scroll down, and click Save.
You can now designate a route trip as a SPED trip. Edit the route and then edit the trip properties (3 dots on the trip). Now the SPED checkbox will show under Trip properties.
Students are marked as SPED students with the SPED indicator in the student record. |
After the SPED setting is enabled, all auto-assignment relative functions will obey the program to generate schedules.
So for example, if a trip is listed as a SPED trip, it will not show up for a regular student. Or if a SPED student is indicated, it will only use SPED trips in the functions listed above. |
Users still can add any student to a trip in different SPED setting using "Manually Add Schedules" function on the student detail page and the "+1" icon on the TripStop Details panel.

Calculate Walkout From Here
You can now select a location on the map from the Students tab and right click and select “Calculate Walkout from here”. |
Enter the distance for the walkout around the location selected. Note that you could also create a custom region using this area. This could be helpful if you are parking buses in locations to provide Wi-Fi. |
The walkout area will display on the map. If you didn’t create a custom region and want to clear the region from the map, right click and select clear. If you did create a custom region, you can turn the display off by going to Operations, Show Custom Regions and uncheck the new region. |
Ability to export auditing entries
Select the desired dates and click on the search icon. Click the Export CSV button. |
For User Defined Fields that are lists, you can now filter for an “Unspecified” value
When using and setting User Defined Fields that are lists, you can now filter and select for fields that are “Unspecified”, meaning that they don’t have a value in the field. |
Ability to determine which custom regions display
When working with defining custom regions (Students, Filters, Custom Regions, Define), you can now determine which regions are visible by clicking on the Region Visibility and selecting or unselecting regions. |
Find My Bus functionality now available to add to your district website
The Find My Bus functionality has already been available in the routing portal (Students, Operations, Find My Bus). This allows you to enter a student name, address and school and find bus stops near by. This can now be provided and made available on your district website for the public to view. For the version that is available on the public website, only the address and school is entered (not the student name).
In order to use Find My Bus on the district website for the public, you must enable this in the Settings. This is on the General Settings page:
Click on the Save button
Example of the public version of Find My Bus if enabled |
The URL to access your Find My Bus website is https://www.findmyschool.us/yourportalname
You can send the Find My Bus URL for YOUR portal to the technician that maintains your district website if you want to add this feature to your district website. |
replace yourportalname with the last part of the URL from your routing portal So if your routing portal URL is the one below:
